Prevention

The purpose of prevention is to educate community members on healthy lifestyles where alcohol and drugs are only used in legal and responsible ways. The Hazel Pittman Center offers an array of Prevention programs that implement various strategies to help prevent substance abuse and promote healthy lifestyles. These include:

  • Evidenced-based programming for school aged children
  • Environmental prevention efforts such as Alcohol Compliance Checks, Tobacco Compliance Checks, Public Safety Checkpoints, Bar Checks, Party Dispersals, and Shoulder Taps.
  • Community-based prevention efforts with participation in Coalitions, Health Fairs, Festivals, and  public events

Prevention services are provided by professionals trained in substance abuse prevention and public health.
